  • Help us build Chabad!

  • Our story begins 100 years ago when the first Jews moved to Hackensack. They sought a place to pray, celebrate, and connect with each other. This led to the founding of the Hackensack Hebrew Institute. Fast forward to a few years ago, facing declining membership and an inability to continue funding their operations, Temple Beth El was on the verge of giving up the dream, perhaps even selling the building to a church.

They turned to Chabad with a request:

Can you come and open a Chabad of Hackensack?

Can you take this sentimental building and turn it into the bustling community center it once was?

Can you bring the joy of Jewish life back to Hackensack?

We answered yes. And now, with your support, we are going to take this building and make it beautiful and welcoming, a thriving Jewish center for the entire area. The building is in urgent need of updates and repair, together with you, we will be building a beautiful Chabad House!
